Somewhere deep within, hidden from my awareness until dawning recently, was the expectation that we would move into the Airstream, embark on visiting new and exciting places, meet new and exciting people, and live happily ever after.

Quiet solitude and isolation are being used to help me see myself for what I really am. It's raw, and it's ugly.

In May, at the townhouse in Urbana, Janelle came running to the top of the stairway, fearing I had fallen down it.

Philippians 1:2

The routine has been interrupted for a few months. No longer have I been awaking at 2 a.m. pondering “What do I do next?” and “Where are we going to live?”  For several hours my mind would keep me sleepless, trying to figure out the solution.

“Although the Lord gives you

the bread of adversity

and the water of affliction

your teachers will be hidden no more

with your own eyes you will see them.

Whether you turn to the right or to the left

your ears will hear a voice behind you saying,

'This is the way; walk in it.' ”

Today I am thankful. I thought I would be giddy, silly with excitement. Instead, I feel peace.
